What fits

What a 30 yard actually holds

  • New construction debris
  • Large demolition
  • Commercial cleanout
  • Major renovation
  • Multi-room estate cleanout

This is the size for a full interior demo, framing debris and all, or the mixed construction waste off a new-build job through the rough-in stage. Crews use it so they are not swapping containers mid-week. It is also the size we recommend for an estate cleanout that involves a whole house, not just a room or two.

Job sites accumulate more of the gray-area stuff, but the rule does not change with size: asbestos, medical waste, radioactive material, microwaves and fluorescent tubes, and a few others stay out of every container we deliver. Full list on our FAQ page, and our crew will flag anything questionable at pickup.

General contractors and property managers book this size most, alongside homeowners tackling a full gut renovation. If you are running a crew on site for more than a few days, ask us about a swap-out schedule so a full container does not sit around waiting on a pickup call.

Delivery

How a 30 yard gets placed

Placement matters more with our largest container, given the extra length and weight. We still set boards under the rails and roll it off slowly, whether it is going on a driveway or a jobsite. It has the same hinged rear door as our other sizes for walk-in loading, and no lid, so plan on a tarp if the job runs through rain or the debris is light enough to blow around.

On your own driveway or job site, no permit is needed. If a 30 yard has to sit in the street or another public right-of-way because there is nowhere else to put it, most Southeast Michigan cities require a right-of-way permit from the city. Call us first and we will tell you what applies at your address before delivery day.

Sizing up or down

When the 30 yard is more than you need

Most homeowner projects do not need this much room. A whole-house cleanout or kitchen remodel usually fits a 20 yard for less. Save the 30 yard for construction, demolition and multi-room jobs where you would otherwise need two smaller dumpsters. For a single room or a garage, the 15 yard is the cheaper call.

Incredibly easy from start to finish. Flexible with scheduling and stress-free. They handled drop-off and pick-up with their own truck — all we had to do was fill the dumpster. Professional, on time, and very convenient.

FAQs

30 yard questions, answered

Is a 30 yard overkill for a home cleanout?

For most homes, yes, the 20 yard handles a whole-house cleanout fine. The 30 yard is sized for construction debris, full demolition, or a cleanout involving multiple large rooms plus furniture, appliances and flooring all going out at once, more volume than a typical single-family cleanout produces.

How much taller is a 30 yard than a 20 yard?

About 1.5 feet taller, 6 feet versus 4.5 feet (approx.), with the same footprint otherwise at 22 by 7.5 feet. The extra volume comes from height, not extra length, so it fits the same driveway spot as a 20 yard would without needing extra clearance.

Do contractors get a different rate on the 30 yard?

No, one flat rate for everyone: $475 for one day, up to $499 for three days, with 4 tons included. If you are running a job site with multiple swap-outs or a regular schedule, call and we will work out a rotation that keeps a container on site without downtime.

What is the most common use for a 30 yard?

New construction debris and large demolition jobs. Framing offcuts, drywall, old cabinetry and flooring from a gut renovation all go in this size before you would need to bring in a second container, which saves a second delivery and pickup charge.
