In October, we wear pink
Every Empire dumpster is black with a green rail. One of them is not. It has a pink rail, pink lettering and a pink ribbon on the side, and it works driveways and jobsites across metro Detroit like every other bin on our yard. It is our way of standing with the people fighting breast cancer, honoring the ones who beat it and remembering the ones we lost.

A ribbon that sits in the driveway for three days
A roll-off dumpster is hard to miss. It is 18 feet of steel parked in front of a house, and everybody on the block walks or drives past it for as long as the cleanout takes. Most of the time that is just a big black box. We figured it could say something.
So one of our 20 yard bins got a pink top rail in place of the green one, pink “Rent me” lettering and a ribbon as tall as the side panel. It goes out on real jobs: garage cleanouts, kitchen tear-outs, roofing work. Neighbors ask about it. That is the point. About 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, so on almost any street the bin lands on, somebody has a reason to notice that ribbon.
We are a small, locally owned company in Dearborn. We do not run a research lab and we are not going to pretend a paint job cures anything. What we can do is put the reminder where people will see it, and point them to the folks who do the real work. Those are listed below.
Same job, different rail
It is a working bin
A 20 yard roll-off, about 18 ft long. It holds about 6 pickup truck loads and goes out on residential and construction jobs all year, not only in October.
No pink markup
It rents at the same flat rate as any other 20 yard: $395 with delivery, pickup and 3 tons of disposal included.
You can ask for it
Call (313) 444-8442 and say you want the pink one. If it is on the yard when your delivery is scheduled, it is yours. There is only one, so it is first come.

It is not the only cause on the yard
The same fleet runs an autism awareness bin covered in puzzle-piece hearts, next to the Lions, Tigers, Red Wings and Mario wraps people book for fun. The cause bins cost the same as the rest. See the whole lineup on the themed dumpsters page.
- Black steel body, pink top rail and fill line

If the ribbon reminded you, here is where to go
The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommends a screening mammogram every two years for women ages 40 to 74. If you are due, or you have been putting it off, these are good places to start. We are not affiliated with any of them and we are not medical people. Talk to your own doctor about what is right for you.
